Transparent Flesh: 2004-2006
Robert Asman

This grouping of figurative images was made by using a photographic vocabulary that encompasses and speaks to the bodies ephemeral being and lightness. As opposed to most of my figurative work which is heavy and dense from being extracted with chemistry from paper pulp, these images are light and airy and seemed to compliment the cloud studies I was also doing at the time.

Technically , the images of transparent flesh are made from manipulated paper negatives which are then enlarged onto AGFA Portiga Classic fiber paper which is processed normally and then selenium toned and bleached to achieve their transparent effect.
